Hi! I’m Diana Sabloff, wife… mother of 2… stepmom of 1… and a former-pharmaceuticals-executive-turned-Health Coach & Consultant. I have a renewed passion for living life to its fullest.
Before - 2010 After - 2013
A few years ago, I was commuting 1 ½ hours each way to New York City for an intense, high-pressure job. I was a typical Type-A overachiever trying to give 110% to my job, 110% to my kids, 110% to my hubby and 10% to myself. I went on like this for 17 years… feeling increasingly stuck, stressed and depleted, with various health problems adding up and weight piling on. My professional success soared, but my home life and my health suffered. Of course, looking back, if I had done the math it would’ve been clear: I couldn’t give 340% when there’s only 100% to give.
My breaking point came after a particularly bad string of 18 hour work days. My young daughter was crying and clutching me to keep me from leaving for work, and I snapped at my son for asking me to play with him (because it was hard for me to get down on the floor). I was hurting – everywhere. Back, neck, ankle and knee pain. Constant stomach & digestive issues. Shortness of breath. Sleep apnea (when I could sleep). Chronic depression. Borderline high blood pressure. High cholesterol. Teeth grinding. Psoriasis (that made me look and feel like a leper). And then, the last straw ... pre-diabetes. I was crushed. I could no longer deny my obesity, food & lifestyle choices were slowly killing me.
At this point, several doctors told me to get gastric by-pass or lap band surgery. In my heart, I knew I had not truly done everything I could to lose weight. I had of course tried a multitude of diets, with moderate success, yo-yo-ing up and down (but mostly up) another 20, 40, 50+ pounds at a time. My weight issues were even more complicated by a history of anorexia and bulimia in my teens and early 20’s. I considered applying to The Biggest Loser, but I didn’t want to leave my family or my job. I was desperate. And then I found the key to changing my life.
How a Holistic Approach Transformed Me and My Life
I needed a program tailored for me that would work for my life. So I created one. I worked with therapists, a health coach, a personal trainer and an energy healer. I found a new doctor who did my bloodwork again, but this time, in addition to the standard panel I was screened for food allergies, mineral and vitamin deficiencies. The results were astounding. I was allergic to nearly EVERYTHING I was eating.
In that moment, I changed my diet. At the risk of TMI, within four days of eating healthy for my body, my digestive issues (gas) improved dramatically, and within a week I felt more energized than I had in years. I didn’t stop there. I began exercising regularly. I actively nurtured positive thoughts and energy. I embraced my playful nature. I cultivated healthier relationships and boundaries.
Two and a half years into my journey I’m healthier mentally, physically and emotionally than I’ve been in more than 25 years. I exercise regularly at bootcamp. I’ve lost close to 80 pounds and am still going. My bloodwork is normal. All the obesity-related medical conditions have resolved.
I am finding the balance, peace and joy I’ve craved my whole life in doing everyday things like working out, making dinner with my kids or walking the dog. I decided to learn as much as I could about nutrition, left my stressful corporate job, and created my own health coaching & consulting business. Now I’m finding personal fulfillment in helping others discover their paths to happier, healthier, more balanced and fulfilled lives.
I believe no one diet or program works for everyone.
Because each of us is different, I will create a personalized, step-by-step plan that suits your unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and goals. I base my recommendations on my background in traditional healthcare and pharmaceuticals, along with the more than 100 dietary theories and practical lifestyle coaching methods I learned at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition’s internationally recognized training program.
